Episode 27: Point Break

Wow! Only an hour has passed since the last commentary and already we're back with a vengeance. Is there a more perfect movie than Point Break? Maybe, maybe Raiders of the Lost Ark, but it's close.

We discuss Keanu's lack of merit, yet his ability to be in incredible movies. Also, toward the end I mention the serious/cheese overlap of the movie that makes it so fun. Tangents galore in the middle.

This time we got me (Jon), Zo, Jen, Chad, and Scott. Pretty much the exact group from the little Lost Boys fix-up from last time.

R.I.P. Patrick Swayze.

Awesome! I picked this up in a bargain bin and have been just waiting for a reason to watch it! Thanks!

Good job! A bit meandering there in the third act, but you get back on track nicely by the end.

I think what Bigelow brought to the film was the sense to emphasize the building of the friendship between Johnny and Bodhi. The protagonist and antagonist become close friends and have two of the biggest character arcs in genre film. Genre film is *not* about learning and growing.
