Episode 23: Kill Bill: Vol. 2

Kill Bill: Vol. 2
Volume 2 was, of course, inevitable. An inevitable gargantuan assuage. We only lost Maxim between volumes (that means he still hasn't seen Vol. 2 -- weird). Loved, loved, loved this one! But I think we're all glad both volumes are finally over. Here's looking forward to volumes 3-5!

Kill Bill Bill and the Bride"Face to face. No telling lies."

Kill Bill Pai MeiWhat's the filter/lens Tarantino used for the Pai Mei training sequence?

Kill Bill Elle's NotebookElle wasn't ad-libbing. We got proof.

Kill Bill foot fetishFoot fetish?

Kill Bill kickI will pay $200 dollars to see two chicks do this in real life.

Kill Bill Elle DriverAhh, Daryl Hannah. Why couldn't you be this sexy in Splash?

Kill Bill BimboNotice the bread! No joke. Very popular brand apparently.

Kill Bill five point exploding heartYou just know that Bill lost his bowels during the five point exploding heart move.

Kill Bill B.B.All's right in the jungle.

Good Commentary. I'd be interested in more Tarantino commentaries.

Just some thoughts and trivia

I think the reason O-Ren has a large backstory in Vol. 1 is because she is the main antagonist of the first film. Giving her a backstory makes her three dimensional rather than being just another cardboard villain for the Bride to hack up. We also sympathize with her because we know she went on her own revenge spree. I think the movie would have suffered if that story had been cut out or even trimmed.

The first two "Lone Wolf and cub" films (the two that were re-cut as Shogun Assassin) were directed by Kenji Misumi. The American cut was "directed" by Robert Houston, who was Bobby in the original "The Hills Have Eyes".
The producer of the Lone Wolf movies (I think he directed some too) was the brother of the main actor and was the actor who played the original "Zatoichi" (the blind swordsman). If Elle survives she could be a Zatoichi like character. In one Zatoichi movie he meets the "One Armed Swordsman" (a Chinese film series) that could be a hint of what becomes of Sofie Fatale (though she never fought in the film). I remember reading that they would raise Nikki to get revenge.
The guy who played the preacher, "Bo Svenson", was one of the 2 American leads in the original "Inglorious Bastards".
And it was a clothing store that Tarantino got the cd of the 5,6,7,8's from.
